About this Blog

wilderness boundary markerThis blog gives me a place to talk about two topics that may seem unrelated to some: Chaco Canyon and wilderness.

Chaco Canyon, in northwest New Mexico, was the pinnacle of Anasazi culture about 900 years ago. Today, it is a desolate, indeed wild, canyon full of beautiful ruins of still great architecture.

Most of us don’t think of buildings when we think of wilderness. I don’t normally do so, either. However, the Canyon at Chaco touches me in much the same way a great mountain or waterfall does. I dearly love a long vista and getting out on a trail.

So, these two topics collide in my life and mind. peace, mjh
