The 27<br \/>\nminute film will be screened at 6 and 7 pm, with a maximum of 60 seats per<br \/>\nscreening in the center\u2019s theater. This event is free and open to the<br \/>\npublic; seats will be filled on a first come, first served basis.<\/p>\n<p>Remembered Earth is a captivating journey through a storied landscape of<br \/>\nthe American West, featuring spectacular landscape photography and a<br \/>\nthoughtful interpretation of land ethics by Pulitzer Prize-winning author<br \/>\nN. Scott Momaday. Noted Indian actor Irene Bedard (Smoke Signals,<br \/>\nPocahontas) narrates the film. The haunting original orchestral  score by<br \/>\nAcademy Award-winner Todd Boekelheide was recorded at Skywalker Sound.<\/p>\n<p>Remembered Earth explores the relationships between people and the land,<br \/>\n&#8220;exemplified by the ingenious use of clips of Hollywood Westerns that<br \/>\nhelped mythologize not just the Southwest but America itself.&#8221; (Washington<br \/>\nPost) It has been an official selection of environmental film festivals in<br \/>\nWashington, DC, Italy and Greece, and won first place and merit awards for<br \/>\nscript and photography at the International Wildlife Film Festival. An HD<br \/>\nversion of Remembered Earth will be featured in a national prime time<br \/>\nbroadcast on PBS later this year.<\/p>\n<p>Filmmaker John Grabowska will be present at the premiere to discuss the<br \/>\nmovie. He is an internationally renowned poet, novelist,<br \/>\nplaywright, artist, literary scholar and environmental essayist. The son of<br \/>\nan artist father and writer mother who both taught for the BIA, he grew up<br \/>\nat Jemez Pueblo, Shiprock and Gallup, still makes his home in New Mexico<br \/>\nand sets most of his writings here. Educated at the University of New<br \/>\nMexico and Stanford University, he holds an earned Ph.D. and is presently<br \/>\nRegents? Professor of the Humanities at the University of Arizona. Momaday<br \/>\nis regarded as the founding father of American Indian literature, having<br \/>\nwon the 1968 Pulitzer Prize for his novel House Made of Dawn. He is a<br \/>\ntrustee of the National Museum of the American Indian and sits on the<br \/>\nBoards of the First Nations Development Institute and the School of<br \/>\nAmerican Research.<\/p>\n<p>Filmmaker John Grabowska has produced films from the subarctic to the<br \/>\nsubtropics. His films have been official selections of more than 40<br \/>\nfestivals around the world, broadcast nationally on PBS and have received<br \/>\nnumerous international awards. He has presented his films to audiences at<br \/>\nthe National Geographic Society and the Smithsonian Institution, conducted<br \/>\nenvironmental media workshops in Argentina and Panama and serves as an<br \/>\nadvisor to the American Conservation Film Festival. Since 1991 Grabowska<br \/>\nhas been writing, producing and directing documentary films with the<br \/>\nInterpretive Design Center of the National Park Service.
