In New Mexico, the top five common birds in decline during the past 40 years are: <\/p>\n
1. the mountain chickadee, declined by 83 percent;
\n2. the horned lark, 81 percent;
\n3. the loggerhead shrike, 74 percent;
\n4. the Western meadowlark, 57 percent; and
\n5. the pinyon jay, 54 percent.<\/p>\n
