The Albuquerque BioPark will host a lecture,
\n\u00e2\u20ac\u0153Preserving Jaguars in their Northernmost Homeland,\u00e2\u20ac\u009d
\non Tuesday, September 25, from 5:30-7:00pm in the
\nAquarium\/Botanic Garden Education Building. This presentation,
\ngiven by Dr. Peter Warshall of the Northern Jaguar Project, will
\nfocus on the ecology of the Northern Jaguar Reserve in Sonora,
\nMexico. This preserve is home to the population of jaguars
\nwhich have been recorded entering southern New Mexico and
\nArizona.<\/p>\n
There is no charge for this event. Light refreshments
\nwill be served. <\/p>\n
Nestled in one of North America\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s most ecologically
\nunique areas, the Northern Jaguar Reserve is home to ocelots,
\nneotropical river otters, military macaws, bald eagles, and the
\nnorthernmost breeding population of jaguars on the planet.
\nOnce completed, this 70-square-mile sanctuary will incorporate
\nthe area with the highest numbers of jaguar sightings in
\nnortheastern Sonora. Come learn about the migratory bird
\nlife, endangered fish species, and unique plant complexes of
\nthis ecological treasure \u00e2\u20ac\u201c and how you can get directly
\ninvolved.<\/p>\n
