[Hat tip to <a href=\"http:\/\/www.walkingraven.com\/\">WalkingRaven<\/a>.] <\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.environment.fi\/default.asp?contentid=390532&amp;lan=EN#.ToiFdbVaJRo.googlereader\">Everyman&#8217;s right &#8211; environment.fi<\/a><\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<h3>Everyman&#8217;s right in brief [without first obtaining permission from a landowner]<\/h3>\n<p><b>Everyone may:<\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>walk, ski or cycle freely in the countryside, except in gardens, in the immediate vicinity of people\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s homes, and in fields and plantations which could easily be damaged <\/li>\n<li>stay or set up camp temporarily in the countryside, a reasonable distance from homes <\/li>\n<li>pick wild berries, mushrooms and flowers, as long as they are not protected species <\/li>\n<li>fish with a rod and line <\/li>\n<li>row, sail or use a motorboat on waterways, with certain restrictions;&#160; swim or wash in inland waters and the sea <\/li>\n<li>walk, ski and fish on frozen lakes, rivers and the sea <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>You may not:<\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>disturb other people or damage property <\/li>\n<li>disturb breeding birds, or their nests or young <\/li>\n<li>disturb reindeer or game animals <\/li>\n<li>cut down or damage living trees, or collect wood, moss or lichen on other people\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s property <\/li>\n<li>light open fires on other people\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s property, except in an emergency <\/li>\n<li>disturb the privacy of people\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s homes, by camping too near them, or making too much noise, for example <\/li>\n<li>leave litter <\/li>\n<li>drive motor vehicles off road without the landowner\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s permission <\/li>\n<li>fish or hunt without the relevant permits <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>   <a name=\"a1\"><\/a>    <\/p>\n<h5>Everyman&#8217;s right is working well<\/h5>\n<p>According to a study, landowners, hikers and authorities agree that everyman&#8217;s right is working well. Everyman&#8217;s right is considered extremely important in Finland and not many problems are related to its use.
