Halfway in space, two-thirds in time, Spring is around the corner

Today, the Sun stands 11.75 degrees south of the equator, on its journey north. This point is midway between the winter solstice and the celestial equator. It has taken the Sun 59 days to move to this halfway point. It completes the second half in only 31 days. Then Spring begins (3/20). [from Sky Watch by Kevin McKeown, abqjournal]
